One of the many unknown myths of Greece is in the beautiful Methana, at its westernmost tip where the small church of Krasopanagia is located.

This small church is built on steep gray rocks. Legend has it that many years ago a sailor loaded his boat with wine barrels and in order to go to Piraeus to sell them. On the way there he got caught in a storm and asked Panagia (Virgin Mary) to help him arrive safely to his destination and he would build a small church made of wine. The Virgin Mary helped him and when he came back he built this little church. To build it, he mixed soil with wine instead of water, and so the little church was called the Church of Krasopanagia.

It is still unknown in this area, and even many inhabitants do not know of its existence, since very few have visited it. However, it is one of the most important sights of the peninsula of Methana, which is visited by many visitors every year to admire the harmony of nature.
