Greece dressed in white: Magical images to take you on a journey

The truth is that every season in Greece has its own beauty and grace. The endless blues of summer, the golden autumns and the snowy white winters. In fact, some places in winter have their glory and we see very often... white day and alpine landscapes. Nature combined with traditional buildings, churches, or simply a street, can give you the perfect photo.

When you hear Trikala, Corinth, images of white landscapes, snow-capped mountains and stone-built villages that exude tradition and hospitality most likely come to mind. And so it is. If you find yourself in Trikala, Corinth in winter and during a snowy season, you have plenty of chances to wake up one morning to a white landscape and start the snow war. Even snowy nights are magical in Trikala, Corinth as you sit by the fireplace and watch the flakes fall out the window.

Meteora

The imposing holy rocks of Meteora are shocking all year round. One of the most popular photos with Meteora in white is the one from Rousanou Monastery. It is one of the six that are still active in Meteora. In fact, they have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. You can stand for hours and admire the majesty of nature combined with the monastery, which is a creation of man. You feel awe and blessing when you have been there and seen such a view up close. If you can try to spend the winter in Meteora and in general in Trikala, you will definitely not regret it. There are many options in both settlements and accommodation.

Naoussa

This beautiful town, built at the foot of Mount Vermio, should be a destination for all seasons. Because in the summer you sleep at night in the villages with a blanket and hear the sound of running water and in the winter the area turns into a white landscape. If you are in Naoussa in winter and it snows, you will have the opportunity to walk through alpine and non-white routes. From dense beech forests and other trees that leave you speechless. And you get into the dilemma of deciding what you like best in Greece. The turquoise beaches with golden sands or the snow-capped mountains and their alpine villages? Each has its own grace, we'll say, and that's the only sure thing.

Pelion

The mountain of the Centaurs is a natural attraction. When it is covered in white, it can enchant you and steal your heart. Pelion is a wonderful destination for those who want an alternative holiday in summer and the ideal area if you want to fill your eyes with white forests and well-kept stone villages with white roofs. Pelion is an area where, if you stay during these two seasons, you will think you are in a different place every time. Nature puts so much effort into changing its appearance and giving magical views. One of the favorite villages in the area is Kissos, which you can visit in all seasons. However, the photo with the white background is from a place near the Agriolefkes Ski Center. Whatever village you find in Pelion, it is certain that you will promise to come back soon.

Velouchi, Evritania

Evritania gives us every year wonderful views with white landscapes. One more reason for Velouchi, its small mountain settlement at 1,840 meters above sea level on the mountain of the same name. As you can imagine, white days are a common phenomenon and one can experience dreamlike moments there. So is the outdoor picture, which is from 2017 and shows the mountain shelter next to the ski resort. The cabin looks like it was painted in the snow and you can imagine how magical it can be to wake up there and drink your hot morning coffee. One thing is for sure, if you are in Evritania for a few days in winter, you will be filled with beautiful images and experiences that will stay with you until you are there again sometime in the future. Velouchi is the least touristy mountain, but it hides pleasant surprises and wonderful people.

Snowy Greece is the version that lots of people love to explore in winter. It's in stark contrast to the deep blue beaches, hot summers and carefree moments by the sea. It is just that, but it proves that Greece offers endless opportunities for trips all year round.
