Serifos Town (Chora)

Chora, the capital of the island is built into a hill and is 5 km from Livadi: Serifos's Port. The village would be characterized as a traditional one and this is because it preserves its medieval form and remains untouched by tourism. Narrow cobbled streets, white washed houses, windmills, churches and small squares make up the authentic beauty of the village. The capital is divided into two districts, the Lower Town and the Upper Town, which is home to the Town Hall in the main square, the only neoclassical building in the village. The Town Hall houses the Archaeological Collection of the island. Chora stands at the top of a hill along with the ruins of the Venetian castle with a breathtaking view.
