Trump insists: “I want to see the Palestinians of Gaza live without violence”

January 28, 2025

U.S. President Donald Trump has reiterated his commitment to addressing the ongoing challenges faced by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Speaking aboard Air Force One on his return to Washington from Florida, Trump expressed a desire to see the people of Gaza live in peace and safety. “I want to see them live without riots, without revolution, without violence,” said the President, emphasizing his hope for a better future for the region.

Highlighting his concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Trump stated, “The Gaza Strip has been hell for so many years… I think people could live in much safer areas and probably much more comfortably.”

While the President refrained from explicitly endorsing a two-state solution, he did confirm plans to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington “very soon.” He emphasized the importance of discussions with regional leaders and noted recent conversations with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Trump praised their leadership, describing Egypt’s Sisi as “a friend” navigating a “very tough neighborhood of the world.”

The situation in Gaza remains precarious, with millions displaced following the outbreak of violence. The ongoing ceasefire agreement, which began on January 19, has brought a temporary calm, allowing for the exchange of hostages and prisoners as well as initial discussions about Gaza’s reconstruction and long-term peace.

President Trump’s remarks underline his administration’s efforts to work closely with allies in the region to chart a path forward. While his approach has sparked varied reactions, his focus remains on ensuring a peaceful and secure future for all parties involved.
