The Beach with the Cleanest Waters in the World Is in Greece

March 20, 2025

Greece welcomed more than 32 million visitors in 2023, making it one of the world’s top tourist destinations.

There are countless reasons to fall in love with Greece—its rich history, stunning art, incredible cuisine, and vibrant culture. But there’s another factor that keeps visitors coming back: its breathtakingly clear and inviting waters.

In fact, according to a ranking by the travel agency Florida Panhandle, one Greek beach boasts the cleanest waters in the world.

How Was This Determined?

To reach this conclusion, the agency first compiled a list of 50 beaches worldwide that ranked highest on travel review websites. They then analyzed over 2.4 million reviews, measuring how often the phrase "clean waters" appeared in user comments.

The World's Clearest Waters: Prassa Beach, Kimolos

The data revealed that Prassa Beach on the island of Kimolos has the cleanest waters in the world.

"The Greek coastline is the longest in the Mediterranean basin, a sea renowned for its crystal-clear waters and deep blue hues," the research team noted.

"It’s no surprise that many of the world’s top beaches for clean waters are in Greece, with Prassa Beach on Kimolos taking the number one spot. A staggering 43.56% of publicly available travel reviews mention the phrase ‘clean waters’ when describing this beach."

Other Greek Beaches in the Top Five

Prassa Beach isn't the only Greek gem on the list. Coming in at number two is Gennadi Beach on the island of Rhodes, followed by Pileh Bay in Thailand in third place. Rounding out the top five are Agios Dimitrios Beach in mainland Greece and Agia Anna Beach on Naxos Island.

With its unparalleled natural beauty, Greece continues to captivate travelers from around the globe—one crystal-clear wave at a time.
