One of the most intriguing and controversial archaeological claims in recent years has emerged from Egypt, where a British anthropologist asserts he has discovered the tomb of Jesus Christ—not in Jerusalem or Nazareth, but beneath the Great Pyramid of Giza.
A Bold Claim Beneath an Ancient Wonder
Dr. Paul Warner claims that deep within the pyramid lies a hidden chamber containing not only what he believes is Jesus’ burial site, but also the Ark of the Covenant. According to Warner, the chamber is part of a twin-cave system sealed off by a massive stone slab. He has presented his findings to Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, as reported by The Daily Star.
The Ark of the Covenant, according to Jewish and Christian tradition, is a sacred wooden chest overlaid with gold, said to house the Ten Commandments given by God to Moses.
Warner says the Egyptian authorities were “thrilled by this potential scientific breakthrough,” after reviewing the material he submitted.
What He Found

The researcher focused his attention on a specific area inside the pyramid known as the Southern Passageway. He claims to have identified man-made structures beyond the sealed stone, suggesting that “something is deliberately hidden behind it.”
“The photos and videos come from the deepest and most remote part of the pyramid’s original structure,” Warner said. “The entire area is carved directly into the rock.”
Images reportedly show rectangular constructions beyond the rock barrier, which Warner believes are not naturally formed.
A Decade-Long Quest
Warner has spent over ten years developing his theory, combining field research in Egypt with geoscanning technology used to probe the interior of the Great Pyramid. His investigation began by analyzing the common threads in the Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—and comparing their sacred texts with ancient Mesopotamian clay tablets.
In Warner’s interpretation, spiritual references such as Mount Sinai, the Mount of Israel, the Mount of Olives, Zion, and the “Mount of Light” mentioned in the Quran, all point symbolically or literally to the Great Pyramid of Giza.

He also believes this sacred site is where Jesus may have delivered the Sermon on the Mount.
“This discovery has the potential to bring peace to the Middle East,” Warner claims, expressing high hopes for the impact of his research.
A Controversial Road Ahead
Warner is now requesting permission to remove the final rock at the end of the Southern Passageway to reveal what lies beyond. But the project hasn’t moved forward without friction.
He states that he was originally appointed as an advisor to the internationally renowned Scan Pyramids initiative, a scientific mission using advanced radiography to examine the internal structure of Egypt’s pyramids. According to Warner, there was an agreement that Egyptian authorities would investigate the area behind the final rock in exchange for access to his data.
However, that agreement reportedly fell through. Warner now accuses the Egyptian government of failing to honor the deal, and has since appealed to the Prime Minister of Lebanon to help mediate the growing dispute, warning of a potential “international controversy.”
According to the UK’s The Sun, Warner also blames former Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Zahi Hawass, calling him a “barrier to progress.”
“My project is backed by the highest authorities in Egypt,” Warner states, “but it’s facing fierce resistance from the ‘old guard’.”
Whether Warner’s claims will stand the test of scientific scrutiny remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: they have reignited global fascination with the Great Pyramid—one of humanity’s most enduring and enigmatic monuments.
