Kimolos, the first Greek island to host lending libraries into old boats on its beaches

November 16, 2020

If by any chance, this summer your road lead in Kimolos, you can borrow your favorite book from a library-boat! Boat - libraries that are real works of art adorn the beaches of the island, with visitors admire this extraordinary project.

These special libraries were created by the painter Eleni Teknopoulou and have four different designs. The core of these messages is the reduction of disposable plastics and the protection of the seas.

This beautiful effort, which started in 2019, had a significant impact on the side of visitors to the island, which pushed the locals of Kimolos to continue this effort with a refreshing mood.

The project is a donation of the AK Laskaridis Charitable Public Benefit Foundation - A-C Laskaridis Charitable Foundation, in the framework of the "Sea Change Greek Islands" program, aimed at protection of the marine environment and the reduction of disposable plastics. Ambassadors of this project are no other than the people of Kimolos, the "Kimolists".
