Planning A Girls Getaway In Mykonos

September 6, 2021

If stress and day-to-day obligations haven’t given you reason enough to plan a girls’ trip, consider these scientific studies. Harvard, the University of Michigan, and several Japanese universities have all conducted studies that concluded long term relationships, particularly like those with your best gal pals, are good for your health and essential to your happiness. And since the studies emphasize peaceful relationships, a peaceful destination is just what the doctor ordered. A Mykonos vacation with your favorite female friends fits this description.

Just east of Athens, Greece, is a tiny, rocky island in the Aegean Sea. The pictures of it are the stuff of movies: clear, blue water, beautiful cliffs filled with white stone buildings, gorgeous sunsets, distant mountains, and a harbor full of boats. Though the climate encourages year round tourism, the best time to visit (and avoid huge crowds) is September or October.

Lodging

Rent a villa for you and 9 of your closest friends or live it up in a luxury hotel. Mykonos offers a variety of lodging opportunities. Villa Hurmurses has 5 separate rooms and sleeps up to 10. They feature a pool, massages, and gourmet food. If a luxury hotel suits you and your friends better, consider the Kivotos Mykonos hotel with a spa, private beach, and suites with private pools.

Food

Start with breakfast at Cosmo Cafe-a family-run business conveniently located and offering traditional breakfast fare. Next, have lunch on the beach at Tasos Taverna on Paraga Beach. This is a great place to enjoy fresh seafood with the girls or keep it light with appetizers. Live the life of a celebrity for dinner by dining at the famous Nammos Restaurant by the Sea. You might even spot a celebrity or two at this European hotspot.

Shopping

What girl's trip is complete without a little shopping? This small island has a lot of retail therapy to offer from recognizable luxury brands to family owned shops. Most of the shopping is found in the narrow streets in Mykonos. Take a quick look at how the other half lives or spend a hefty investment at high-end stores like Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Find some art to remind you of your trip at Minima gallery or Pinelies art shop. Or pursue the local leatherworks at Mykonos Sandals which has been in the city since 1948.

Nightlife

While Mykonos first became a popular tourist destination due to an archeological dig nearby, it is now known for its hopping nightlife. Fittingly start at the Queen of Mykonos for a champagne then travel on to the popular Scandinavian Bar. The Caprice of Mykonos offers the ultimate party destination to end your perfect Mykonos day.

Most of the fun to be had on this tiny island can be found in or near the small city of Mykonos. Plan to stay close to the same area and rent a car or use the bus. With post pandemic deals to be found, there really is no reason to put off that girls trip to Mykonos! Before setting out on your Mykonos vacation, be sure to check what the current Covid-19 or other travel provisions are.
