Historical sights, blue beaches, beautiful hikes, organized infrastructure. Parga, having passed through Venetian, French, Turkish and English domination, today stands proudly in the northwestern part of the prefecture of Preveza, embracing the hill "Pezovolos" and invites visitors to discover it.

Access to the Castle (Kastro) is easy from the port, through narrow streets and stairs. If you want to spend your first night in Parga the best way possible, all you have to do is walk through the picturesque cobbled streets of the city. You should also visit the church museum, the church of Agios Nikolaos (Patron Saint of Parga) and the dozens of small churches that are scattered here and there in the center of Parga.

Moreover, if you have your own transportation, it is a great opportunity to visit the castle of “Ali Pasha”, which is located in the village of Anthousa, just outside the city. This village is also known for its beautiful waterfall.

If you have plenty of free time, you could plan a series of activities in the surrounding areas. A day trip to Paxos and Antipaxos, for example, is a must in case you want to see these small islands up close. “Captain Hook” and “Ionian Star” ships can take you there.

In the village of Gliki, you will admire the beauty of nature, but also have a great experience of alternative tourism by crossing the mythical river Acheron by boat. Nature lovers may as well want to walk on the dirt road that starts from the village and leads along the river Acheron through an impressive plane tree forest.

From this point, you can continue walking to the headwaters of the river, enjoying the beautiful route.

Hiking continues to the beach of Valtos, from which starting and passing through the old mills and olive groves you will find the church of Panagia Faneromeni and the famous waterfall of the village Anthousa.

Visit the church of Agios Spyridon just before the small port on the right of the beach, and go up the small path to the monastery of Vlacherna to enjoy the stunning sunset.

During the summer months Parga is literally full of people, who flock from every corner of Greece to cool off in its clear blue waters. Therefore, it would be wise to book a room in time. As for the places where you can enjoy its crystal clear waters, these are enough.

Start by visiting the beautiful island of Panagia, just opposite the port, which is so close that you can even swim there. In the small church located on the island, weddings take place quite often. Meanwhile, Lychnos Beach (four kilometers from the city) is surrounded by the green of the mountains and the olive groves of Parga and is ideal for those who love water sports.

Nearby is the famous cave of Aphrodite, where -according to Greek mythology- the Goddess used to swim. You can visit the beach either by boat from the pier of Parga, or by car (there are relevant signs).
