The village of Pelion, which supplied the Argonauts with water

Afissos, which harmoniously combines the mountains with the sea, is one of those villages of Pelion that are said to be suitable for a visit at any time of the year.

Surrounded by beautiful beaches that "see" the Pagasitic Gulf - the most popular are Kalifteri, Ambovos, Lagoudi - it combines in a unique way the sea breeze with the rich and wonderful nature of the mountain of the Centaurs.

It is a beautiful settlement in South Pelion, at a distance of 26 km from Volos, by the coastal road that has its name linked to the Argonauts campaign, as according to mythology Jason and the Argonauts made a stop in the village to refuel with water before continuing their journey in search of the Golden Fleece. In fact, in honor of this myth, the central square of the village is called "Argonautai".

What will strike you in the village is the fact that the island aura blends harmoniously with the traditional Pelionian elements, creating a destination that definitely stands out. Amphitheatrically built in green olive groves, it presents a particular architectural homogeneity with its houses that seem to "descend" the hill towards the sea, distinguishing themselves both for their local, traditional architecture and for the wonderful view of the sea.

Undoubtedly one of the most amazing moments to enjoy the dreamy beach of the village is at sunset when the horizon is painted in its warm and magical colors.
