Archbishop Anastasios of Albania is in critical condition after his health severely deteriorated on Friday morning, according to Ethnos.gr.

The Archbishop has developed multiple organ failure and is currently intubated in the Intensive Care Unit at Evangelismos Hospital in Athens. His condition follows an emergency surgery on January 10 to address a hemorrhage in his lower digestive system. Despite the procedure, his prognosis remains extremely serious.

A specialized medical team, led by Professor Anastasia Kotanidou, a renowned expert in pulmonology and intensive care, is closely monitoring his situation. Doctors are making continuous efforts to stabilize and awaken him.

Archbishop Anastasios was first hospitalized in Tirana on December 30 after contracting a seasonal flu. When his condition worsened, he was airlifted to Athens on January 3 for advanced medical care. Since then, he has remained under intensive monitoring at Evangelismos Hospital, where efforts to manage his health complications have been ongoing.
