A new era of historical entertainment is taking shape in Northern Greece with the upcoming creation of the “Alexander Theme Park”, the first theme park in the world dedicated to Alexander the Great. The park is planned near Amphipolis, strategically located between Kavala and Serres.
Spanning 8 acres, the park aims to blend education with entertainment, presenting the legacy of Alexander in an engaging and accessible way — without overwhelming visitors with heavy historical detail. The official announcement is expected in 2025, with construction set to begin in 2026. The project comes with a multi-million-euro budget.
Grigoris Avanidis, project manager at DreamWorkers, emphasized the importance of the Kasta Tumulus excavation and the deep historical ties of the region to Alexander the Great. He highlighted that this will be the first theme park in the world exclusively dedicated to his life and legacy. Avanidis also noted the lack of such attractions in Greece, despite growing interest from investors.
“The excavation of the Kasta Tomb, the national and international dialogue it sparked, and the undeniable fact that Alexander lived and shaped part of his story in this land, fully justify the development of a theme park dedicated to him,” Avanidis stated.
Theme parks like this have the potential to boost tourism and enhance family entertainment, and Avanidis is confident that Greece will see significant growth in this area over the coming years.
