Legal Action Initiated by Prime Minister's Wife Against SYRIZA MP Elena Akrita Over Alleged Defamatory Post

April 2, 2024

Prime Minister Mareva Grabovksy-Mitsotakis's spouse is pursuing legal recourse against SYRIZA Member of Parliament, Elena Akrita, following what is described as a defamatory social media post.

According to an announcement from the Prime Minister's Press Office, "In response to yesterday's defamatory post by SYRIZA Member of Parliament Elena Akrita, which she reiterated today, Mrs. Mareva Grabovksy-Mitsotakis will take legal action under civil and criminal law promptly to uphold truth and protect her personal reputation. We expect the entire SYRIZA parliamentary group to consent to lifting Ms. Akrita's immunity, enabling her to face justice for her false and defamatory claims."

The post by SYRIZA MP Akrita that prompted the reaction from Mrs. Grabovksy-Mitsotakis was a comment on a post by journalist Thanos Dimadis, where he suggested, "Mareva Mitsotakis' misstep in Greece is not being born Tyler", in reference to Stefanos Kasselakis' spouse.
